For many centuries and in different parts of the world, essential oils have been used for a variety of health and beauty purposes. Used as natural agents for calming, soothing, antibacterial, detoxifying and many more benefits.
The efficacy of essential oils goes beyond aromatherapy and spa-like treatments. (Although, spa-like scents are super invigorating.) Scientific data in the world of skin treatment has proven the evident effect of consistent use of essential oils – at the right dosage, mixed with the right ingredients.
Here are some of our picks of essential oils that played a vital role in some of our The Skin Fuel products.
1. Lemon Essential Oil
When we think of lemon essential oil, we are instantly reminded of its zesty, energizing, and mood-boosting scent. However, did you know that it enhances the absorption of vitamins in skincare?
According to the Society of Cosmetic Scientists and the Société Française de Cosmétologie, the role of lemon EO was investigated in enhancing the penetration of multiple vitamins and their flux through the skin was enhanced. The penetration of vitamin E was nine-fold higher. Imagine how much more effective would that be? Nine-fold!
Hence, we added lemon EO to “The Secret Serum” by The Skin Fuel. This way, your skin can make most out of the benefits of vitamin E, C, and Ferulic Acid – a powerful trio with anti-aging and brightening effects.
2. Rosehip Essential Oil
Another star in “The Secret Serum” is rosehip essential oil. Is it different from rose oil? Yes, it is!
Unlike rose oil, which is extracted from rose petals, rosehip oil is pressed from the seeds and fruit of the rose plant. It has been cherished since ancient times for its skin benefits. Science has now proven it is packed with skin nourishing vitamins and essential fatty acids. It also contains phenols with antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.
But, perhaps, the main reason we added it to “The Secret Serum” is its proven benefit in restoring skin elasticity. Vitamin A-rich rosehip EO promotes the production of collagen and inhibits the creation of an enzyme that breaks down collagen.
3. Tea Tree Essential Oil
If you regularly research up-and-coming skincare products, you might have noticed the rising popularity of tea tree essential oil.
It is derived from Australian tea tree leaves and has antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is now strongly known for its pimple-fighting ability, as tea tree oil combats two of the the main contributors to the development of acne: inflammation, bacteria, hormones, and sebum.
Tea tree EO is one of the natural ingredients in The Skin Fuel – “The Mask”. “The Mask” is rich in antioxidants, promotes plump skin, brightens your skin, and fights off harmful bacteria.
4.Peppermint Essential Oil
Nothing says ‘cooling effect’ like peppermint essential oil. It contains menthol for an automatic soothing sensation, optimal for healing puffiness or irritation. It instantly calms the skin and relieves irritation. It is an important ingredient in our “Cryolotion Body Moisturizer”.
The bottom line
Essential oils have a long history as effective ingredients in skincare products. It is crucial, however, to pair them with the right ingredients to maximize their potential in order to truly create natural science-led formulas your skin will love.
